This weekend at the Kunstfestpiele Herrenhausen was incredibly fun. It was super cool to meet and work with HIIIT and take part in Boris Acket’s Sunrise for the Sleepers. The Installation was a set of four Tam Tam’s which each had a motorized/massage gun to excite the metal and produce truly haunting and beautiful sounds. The installation was also heavily reliant on lighting as the name suggests. In the Galleria, which was a huge long and beautiful hall, had two huge stage lights on either side which would simulate a sunrise at different intervals during the 20 minute installation repetitions. Our “interventions” consisted of James Tenney’s “Having never written a note for Percussion” a transition with some Bull Roars developed by members of HIIIT and Peter Garlands Apple Blossom which essentially made the marimba sound like a warm synthesizer in that room.
But now coming back from a Week of performing 6 shows in a row, I am hit with the classic feeling of emptiness following a performance. Regardless of whether or not it goes well, I always have this empty feeling afterward – as if my performer self is once again returning to stagnate until the next performance. I hope to be performing more frequently again soon.
I find myself scrolling through all of these unreleased ideas in my “vault”, I don’t know when any of this will see the light of day
